Life Story

Born somewhere. Live once. You're dropped into a real place and year between 1930 and today, and you live a whole life with the odds people there actually faced.

The title screen of Mediocre Life Story: the branching life logo, 'Be born somewhere', 'Today's life' and 'Choose where you're born'.

Most lives are ordinary. That's the point.

Most people aren't born rich, famous or lucky. Mediocre Life Story doesn't hand you a fantasy. It hands you the birth lottery as it really works, and lets you see how far one life can go from there: which choices matter, which don't, and how much was the dice.

๐ŸŽฒ The birth lottery

Where and when you're born is drawn from real births. You might be a farmer's daughter in 1950s India or a programmer's son in 1990s Seoul, and the game tells you how privileged you were at birth compared with every baby born that year.

โš–๏ธ Real odds, every year

School, work, marriage, migration, war, illness: each year runs on the statistics of your country, your era, your sex and your circumstances. When a decision is risky, the odds behind it are real.

๐Ÿ”€ What if?

Every life can be replayed from any turning point with one decision changed, and the same luck in every year that decision didn't touch. See what a single choice was really worth.

๐ŸŒ  Dreams and goals

Choose a dream in your teens (live abroad, raise a family, build a business) and chase it. It changes what comes up in your life. It may or may not come true.

โœจ Consciousness

The more you learn and question, the more you see: hidden choices appear, then the odds, then the long-term consequences of what you do today.

๐Ÿ“… Today's life

Everyone gets the same birth on the same day. Live it, score it, and keep your streak going.
